Arevalo Family Photographers is Pedro Arevalo and Mariana Arevalo — a husband-and-wife team who have been photographing weddings for more than twenty years, based in the Rio Grande Valley and travelling wherever the day takes us.

We are wedding photography specialists. It is the only thing we do, and doing one thing for two decades changes how you see a wedding day: you stop hunting for pictures and start recognising them a second before they happen — the father who looks away, the cousin who laughs too loud, the half-second after the vows when nobody is composed yet.

Two ways of seeing, in one day

Most of the day is documentary wedding photojournalism. We do not stage it, we do not call people back to redo a moment, and we do not interrupt. What happened is what you get.

The rest is deliberate: glamorous, inspired portraits of the bride and groom, made with the same care a magazine would give an editorial. Light, line and place. Those two ways of working sit side by side in every gallery we deliver, and together they tell the whole story rather than half of it.

Recognised work

Our photography has been awarded by Fearless Photographers and by other international associations of wedding photographers — juries made up of the photographers whose work we admire. We mention it for one reason only: it means the pictures have been judged by people who know exactly how hard they are to make.

The Valley, and everywhere else

Home is McAllen, Texas, and we know every church, ranch, ballroom and back road in the Rio Grande Valley. We are also destination wedding photographers: skylines, coastlines and cities far from here, for couples who want their wedding somewhere that means something to them.
